The Serbian Educational Centre is a project that offers children of the Serbian diaspora an education according to the Serbian curriculum, with lecturers from Serbia. We were hired in order to develop a site, based on the clients’ requirements, as well as to use our experience so that we can advise the further development of this business.
We were initially employed to assist with consulting regarding the development of the site, followed by agreement to take over the development completely, which included both design and development, purchase of domains and selection of hosting packages, as well as the translation from Serbian to English. We also offered consultation regarding SEO optimization of the site, as well as the management of social networks (Facebook and Instagram).
The main challenge of this project was to create such a product, that it would stand out, especially among competitors. It was necessary to do extensive research of the competitors, and then brush up the "user friendly" and optimized site, with enough text to provide the user with all the necessary information. This was exactly the challenge - to find a balance between the quantity and quality of information to be presented to the users.
The goal of this project is to create a web presentation that provides information about programs aimed at educating children. The programs were originally designed for children outside the Serbian homeland, in order to enable them to stay in touch with the traditions of Serbian people, by learning Serbian history, singing traditional songs and folklore, all online with the use of modern technology.
Before starting the project, we took the time to research the market and the competitors, in order to get a clearer picture and highlight the main advantages of our client in the best way possible.
The design was done in several iterations according to the principle of Agile methodology. Each iteration was actually a form of "brainstorming" with the client, from which we took ideas, and with our design team, we came up with the best solutions. The Agile methodology’s great advantage is that we had the ability to change and shape the features throughout the project, until we got a solution that best suited the client's requirements.
To create this site, we used the Wordpress website builder and theme, which we accommodated to the client's needs. After reaching an agreement regarding their design wishes, the creation of the site itself was the easier part of the job.
Nowadays, it is assumed that the site will be optimized for all types of devices and different resolutions, especially mobile phones, therefore that was also the case when creating this site. In addition, basic SEO (Search Engine Optimization) was done, in order to get the best possible ranking on google. At the end of the project, a complete instruction manual for using the Wordpress site was made for the clients, so that they could make any minor changes themselves.
